Standing on the right side of history - Hillary Clinton

Today I'm sharing a 30 minute speech by Sec. of State, Hillary Clinton.  She makes the case for human rights for LGBT people in a most genuine way, and she calls on us to "be on the right side of history."  Her statements cover so much that should be said, and need to be heard by all Americans, as well as citizens of the world.  Although I'm a latecomer to defending these rights, I learned and changed through personal pain.  I want it known that I stand beside Hillary in this effort.

Even when you have to defy friends you have known all you life, it's worth it to make a stand for LGBT people.  If you have to adjust what you believe about church teachings, make those changes. What you choose to believe is a choice, but it is NOT a choice on whether to be gay, lesbian, bi-sexual or transgender.

Don't you want to be on the right side of history?  I do.

I don't mean to be offensive in any way. You said "don't you want to be on the right side of history?" You may want to be on the right side of history, but I want to be on the right side of God. You might say I do not understand, but I do. I have battled LGBT issues in my own life for 7 years and by God's grace, I am getting the victory. I'm not hiding who I am, but rather I am embracing who God created me to be. I'm embracing who I truly am. I'm praying for you.

I'm sure you aren't trying to be offensive, but it would seem that if you were truly embracing who you truly are, then why do you go by "anonymous."

Thanks for your input.

Hi Carol. Thanks for what you're doing. I like the words above from a recent blog of yours. It can be tough being a Christian on the side of LBGT rights and truth. But it's even tougher to be a Christian who decided to leave her marriage due to the problems associated with being married to a gay (in denial, in my case) man. You are an encouragement to me as I try to defend LGBTs as well as myself. Many of my Christian friends know and love Ray Boltz' music. Thanks for being an example for me and those friends of mine who have much difficulty understanding why I chose to do what I did.

enjoy!

Hi Debbie,

As I read those first two paragraphs, I thought, "Wow, what good statements!" - and I didn't realize they were my own words! :) Thanks for the comment, and I hope I can keep shining a light for you and others until there aren't any more of us wives who have to go through this, and our glbtq friends are accepted for who they are.
